FATE Brewing Company To Release Tequila Barrel Aged Ale

When FATE Brewing Company first brewed Uror Gose in mid-July 2013 no one expected the journey it would take over the course of the next year.

Gose, originally brewed in Germany, is a sour ale designed around a heavily weighted wheat grain bill and then spiced with coriander and sea salt. This traditional recipe drew the eye of the brew staff at FATE Brewing Company because it allowed the team to produce sour ale in the brewery’s first year without fear of wild yeast contamination. FATE Brewing Company first brewed the unique Uror Gose, last summer and the sessionable ABV (coming in at 4.8%), crisp tartness and salty bread character nicely complimented the smoked BBQ, fresh salads and sharable pub plates served at the brewery. But the story doesn’t end there.

Uror Gose found it’s way into a tequila barrel. The brain child of FATE Brewing Company’s owner Mike Lawinski, head brewer Jeff Griffith and Arta Tequila National Account Manager, Erica Beard, this distinctive ale aged for nearly 3 months in 53 gallon oak barrels used previously to age Arta’s quality tequilas. Aging Uror Gose in Arta Tequila barrels laces tequila-like flavors of oak and smooth agave to the already tangy sour wheat ale.

FATE Brewing Company will release this tequila barrel aged sour mash ale to the public on Cinco de Mayo, 2014. This limited release ale will be sold beginning Monday, May 5th in 750mL bottles from the restaurant, located at 38th and Arapahoe in Boulder.  FATE Brewing Company’s Arta Tequila Barrel Aged Uror Gose will first be available at Front Range retail outlets beginning Saturday, May 3rd. If your local liquor store does not carry FATE Brewing Company products, be sure to ask about them.

In addition to the specialty bottle release, FATE Brewing Company will also tap a house-brewed Mexican Dark Lager and offer food specials all day to celebrate the holiday.
